Quimperlé Finistère

An historic town with a unique heritage, on the very borders of Finistère

Easily accessible, Quimperlé is great place to discover some exceptional monuments, such as the 11th century Sainte-Croix Abbey, the Frémeur hospital (the only example of a medieval hospital in Brittany that has been so well-preserved) and the Maison des Archers.

For many years, Quimperlé has played its part in artistic life, from the classic to the most contemporary. Artists are invited to exhibiti in surroundings that are steeped in history: the Chapelle des Ursulines, the ancient court of the Présidial, and the Maison des Archers.

Walking in Quimperlé

Quimperlé stands as the crossroads of the great hiking trails of the GR 34E and the GR 34I from the coast. 

The trails of Saint-Jacques de Compostelle that begin in Locquirec and Le Conquet join at Quimperlé. This makes it a great place to stop and appreciate the architectural heritage and pretty surroundings before continuing towards Vannes.

With so many smaller walking trails and paths, there are hundreds of miles of signposted walks to explore, sure to satisfy even the most avid hikers.

Threading through unspoilt stretches of natural beauty, these walking routes reveal the picturesque valleys of Isole, Ellé and Scorff. they also become more intimate in the depths of Carnoët Forest, the largest wooded area in Cornouaille (nearly 200 acres) and the link between Quimperlé and the ocean. These paths and trails can be enjoyed freely throughout the year, at any season.
