Here are the key tourism labels you'll see in Finistère, and how they'll improve your holiday.
 

VILLES ET PAYS D'ART ET D'HISTOIRE - Meaning 'Towns and Areas of Art and History', these are selected by the Minister for Culture according to architectural and urban heritage and a strong cultural identity.

VILLES HISTORIQUES - These historic towns belong to a group of 'towns of art and history in Brittany' but have no official label. Nevertheless, they are noted for a particular heritage and historic interest, and are connected to the above group.

PETITES CITES DE CARACTERE - Not to be translated as cities, these are in fact small, picturesque towns of character with all the characteristics of an old town with historic interest, often linked with bygone activities and traditions. Visiting these towns can be like stepping back in time.

PATRIMOINE MONDIAL DE L'UNESCO - These are UNESCO World Heritage Sites a label given to sites across the world that have an extraordinary and universal value. Their place on the UNESCO list ensures that they will be protected for future generations to appreciate and enjoy.

LES PLUS BEAUX VILLAGES DE FRANCE - These are the most beautiful villages in France so if you're visiting them, take your camera! A village with this classification guarantees a place of beauty, whether natural, architectural, or historical. This label means that you'll have more than just a visit, it will be an experience.

STATIONS VERTES - This label signifies a natural zone with a bonus and activities that respect the environment. They are usually natural areas offering unexpected extras such as leisure activities (swimming, play parks, sports, pathways and green areas) or perhaps discovery zones (nature, guided visits, local produce).



VILLES ET VILLAGES FLEURIS - These towns have made a conscious effort to be more floral, signing up to a national programme of embellishing our towns with splashes of floral colour. The efforts of locals to cultivate these floral decorations are judged and awarded a grading, but the real prize is the pleasure that the flowers and plants give to locals and visitors alike.  
 

SENSATION BRETAGNE - This label encompasses coastal towns in Brittany that have signed up to a charter of quality, committing to welcome visitors and offer unsual activities, boosting a normal coastal visit into a complete sensation! 

STATIONS FAMILLE PLUS - As you might imagine, these sites are particularly suitable for families, offering activities for all ages and with accessible pricing. There are often professional entertainers here, as well as shops and other services that families need.
