Musée Maritime du Cap Sizun

  • Museum

Opened in 2000, the Cap Sizun Maritime Museum offers two storeys of permanent collections that focus on local maritime life, from prehistoric times to the current day. Throughout the themed rooms, you can find out all about the history of the local fishing trade of sardine, lobster and tuna, the life of sailors in times gone by and nowadays, the history of coastguards, marine trade and commerce and our legendary lighthouses. Step into our reconstruction of a fisherman's house from the early 1900s and you'll be plunged into an authentic period atmosphere thanks to its furniture, objects and period artefacts. Models of boats always delight the youngsters, while photographs and eye-witness accounts from history will fascinate those who are curious about days gone by. Visit today and discover 2,000 years of local history!
