Sardine pâté

A recipe that's quick, easy and tasty - a perfect canapé or starter!


For 6-8 people

150 g salted butter, at room temperature
2 tins of sardines in oil, preferably boneless
Chopped parsley
Lemon juice
Ground black pepper


Remove any bones from the sardines then drain off the oil.
Crush them with a fork.
Mix in the butter and parsley.
Season with pepper and lemon juice.
Place in the fridge for one hour.

Serve chilled with crusty bread, ideally the French pain de seigle or pain de campagne.
