Irresistible Apple Cake "Pommé ya-ya"

A dessert recipe that's an instant hit!

To make a delicious 'pommé ya-ya', you'll need

6 large apples, peeled
3 glasses of warm milk
2 glasses of sugar
2 glasses of self-raising flour
180g salted butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla essence

Beat the eggs with the sugar and add the vanilla essence.
Gradually introduce the flour, then the warm milk and the butter.
Cut the apples into chunks and add them to the mixture.
Grease a round baking tin or springform cake tin, tip in the mixture and bake for 30 to 45 minutes in a pre-heated over (200°C).

Once baked, the butter and the sugar will caramelise, forming a delicious toffee-like crust which is utterly irresistible.
This cake is best served warm with a little whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice-cream.

Cook's Tips

Beat the eggs and sugar really well before adding the flour. Always respect the proportions of the ingredients, and if, after baking, the cake seems a little runny, don't panic - simply leave it until the next day and warm it through (if it lasts that long!).
