A area of outstanding beauty
The Regional Natural Park of Finistère, created in 1969, was the second of its kind in France. Extending over 425 000 acres (of which nearly 150 000 are maritime) the Parc Naturel Régional d'Armorique encompasses some 61 000 habitants, spread over 44 neighbourhoods and including associated towns of Brest, Landerneau, Carhaix, Châteauneuf du Faou and Le Conquet.
The park includes an impressive variety of landscapes, settings and activities that reflect the diversity of the Finistère environment, its ecology, economy and culture, from the islands to the Crozon Peninsula to the Arrée Mountains.
The Regional Natural Park of Finistère is a huge maritime zone that incorporates islands, soaring cliffs and of course the mysterious atmosphere of rural Brittany, moorland, rocky peaks and boggy depths...
Note: There are 46 Regional Natural Parks in France and 12 National Parks.
The label 'Natural Park' is awarded by the Ministry for the Environment.
